Hi, I’m Dr. Nick Artman.
I joined Regent University in Fall 2026 as the Margaret L. Lesher Director of Student Media and Associate Professor of Journalism in the School of Communication & the Arts. I teach in the areas of broadcast journalism, digital media production, sports journalism, podcasting, and student media.
Before coming to Regent, I served as an Associate Professor of Communication, Media, and Sport Management at Slippery Rock University, where I taught courses in sports journalism, sports production, digital media production, audio production, podcasting, advertising, and digital radio. I also served as chief operator and faculty advisor for WSRU-FM, SRU’s student-run FM radio station. My broader career includes work as a radio host, podcast producer, instructional designer, and digital content creator.
I earned my Ph.D. in Communications Media and Instructional Technology, M.A. in Adult Education and Communications Technology, and B.S. in Communications Media with a minor in Journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. My research draws from media ecology, instructional media, sports broadcasting, and podcasting, with a focus on how media environments shape human behavior, perception, learning, emotion, and culture.
